FasterWeb: Browse the Web Faster
FasterWeb is a free Chrome add-on that aims to enhance your browsing experience by preloading web pages just before you click on them. Developed by Alexandre Dieulot, this tool uses just-in-time preloading, ensuring that the page you want to visit is ready to load instantly.
The concept behind FasterWeb is simple. When you hover your mouse over a link for 65 milliseconds, there is a 50% chance that you will click on it. Taking advantage of this, FasterWeb starts preloading the page at that moment, allowing it to load quickly when you actually click on it. On average, over 300 milliseconds are left for the page to preload, ensuring a seamless browsing experience.
While FasterWeb works best on pages within the same site, it still offers noticeable improvements for external sites as well. However, pages that require user actions, such as logging out or deleting something, are excluded from preloading. Additionally, FasterWeb won't preload pages with a "?" in their URL.
Previously known as FasterChrome, FasterWeb is based on the instant.page library, which can be easily added to your own website to achieve the same speed boost. With FasterWeb, you can now browse the web faster and enjoy a smoother browsing experience.
